We’re here to help with A Serious Foodie Guide to Unique Holiday Gifts. Looking for that special gift for a foodie friend? Someone on your list is hard to please? Maybe something to give someone with everything? Here are some of our favorite unique gift ideas – and some are literally outside of the box, requiring little or no $
Prepare a Meal with Family/Friends
One thing we have in common with anyone and everyone – food. We can make real connections with people by simply sharing a meal. You can do an elegant white table cloth affair, organize a pot luck or progressive meal, or have a table full of small plate dishes. It takes a bit of organizing, but it’s not hard.
Check out our blog on Easy Party Foods which focuses on small bites/small plates. Or try your hand at Vietnamese Pho – which is a lot of fun. Just have a pot of pho broth handy, then a bunch of ingredients that each person can add to their bowl of piping hot broth. Our recipe for Pho in 15 Minutes will tell you what you need.
Need to pump up your side dishes/veggies? Check out our Easy Gourmet for the Holidays: Side Dishes.
We found other great resources at Delish – 72 Easy Christmas Appetizers. Or, how about our favorite First Lady of the Dinner Party – Martha Stewart. She has a great article on “Quick Recipes for Entertaining” and a nice “Guide to a Balanced Dinner Party Menu“.
Get Together of a Movie & Meal with Family/Friends
At the Movies (click HERE): We list (arguably) the best foodie movies of all time. Down load, stream, or go old school (buy the DVD). Sit with you favorite friends and/or family to watch a few of these classics.
And there’s always the amazing NetFlix foodie series like Chef’s Table, School of Chocolate, the Million Pound Meu, Ugly Delicious, the Great British Baking Show (especially the holiday episode), and – our very favorite – the Chef Show.
Home Crafted Holiday Gifts
For the DIYer – we have some quick, easy projects that will surely be appreciated by anyone (click HERE).
The queen of the holiday homemade is definitely Martha Stewart – click HERE to see her array of hand-crafted holiday gifts.
Another great website we found was AllRecipes (click HERE to see their DIY gifts). With each of these homemade gifts, packaging can really make the difference. Tins, bottles, and festive boxes can be found on-line or at cookware stores.
Why wait for Valentine’s Day? Artisan chocolates are one of our go-to gifts for any holiday, any occasion. Fancy or plain, single sourced, fair trade, small batch – you can find anything that your chocolate fan craves. Check out our list of our favorite artisan vendors, all available on-line (click HERE).
Sparkling Wine Gifts
Sparkling wines always make a fun gift, especially when give to those folks who are willing to share. We’ve put some special bottles on our list, but most are for people on a budget (click HERE).
Red Wines Under $25
You don’t need to break the bank to find a great wine. Great whites under $25 are easier, so we tackled the red wines this year. We make a list of our favorite red wines under $25. We always find – a good (and sometimes great) wine to fit any budget (click HERE).
