According to the Michelin Guide, "A la plancha is a style of food preparation that combines high-temperature searing with a small amount of smoking. Gambas a la plancha, often translated as “pan-seared prawns”, ranks with patatas bravas and tigres among the most iconic Spanish tapas. Though most recipes call for a cast-iron skillet, it was traditionally made on a plancha." Our spice blend uses the flavors that are common to cooking "a la plancha," with a hint of smoke, a bit of spicy heat, and some well-balanced herbs used in Spanish cooking. This blend is so easy to use - dry rub marinate your protein of choice, and sear it on a grill, a cast iron skillet, or (if your lucky to have one), on your plancha. And, like all of the Serious Foodie spice blends, sprinkle a bit more after cooking to boost the flavors.
