Bibi Graetz It’s A Game

Bibi Graetz has risen from artist to cult winemaker – and he still holds onto his artistic roots, as you can see by his colorful labels.  His wines have a strong cult following, especially his “Testamatta” (which means “crazy head” in Italian).
“It’s a Game” is made from an unusual blend of 80% Sangiovese, 10% Colorino, and 10% Canaiolo. It is fermented in stainless steel tanks, then it is aged for 15 months in French oak.  All of Bibi Graetz’s wines are made to drink early, but have the structure to age for 5-10 years.
It’s a Game was inconsistently rated with an average score of  3.73.  Three people rated it “5”, with two people rating it the best wine of the evening.  However, there were two people rating it “2”, and one person rating it “3”.
Source:  Mazzaro’s (St. Petersburg) and was purchased for $21.  We still recommend this wine – but with lots of time to aerate, and needs to be paired with food – preferably a nice dish of pasta with a red sauce.
