Southern Italian Fig and Orange Grill Sauce & Marinade
A perfect balance between sweet and savory, our Fig & Orange sauce comes from an heirloom recipe we found in the Calabrian region of Italy. All-natural, vegetarian, and gluten-free, it can be used for grilling or as a companion to vegetables, cheese, pork, poultry, and eggs.
This amazing sweet & sour, savory & salty sauce is a recipe that was used to make a Sunday roast - the original recipe used pork. We found this recipe in an old scrap book, and the handwritten notes in Italian might be over 100 years old! You can use this sauce on lamb, beef, chicken, veggies, or fish/shellfish. Mix 1/4 cup of this sauce with 2 tablespoons of red wine vinegar, whisk in 1/2 cup of extra virgin olive oil, and create probably the best salad dressing you've ever had!
Ingredients: Filtered water, golden balsamic vinegar, figs, fig puree (figs, water), white balsamic vinegar reduction (concentrated white balsamic vinegar, cane sugar) (contains sulfites), extra-virgin olive oil, sunflower oil, orange juice concentrate, sugar, shallots, sea salt, lemon juice concentrate, black pepper.
