Calabrian chili peppers have been around for a very long time – I remember seeing these spicy red peppers in my very Italian neighborhood when growing up, and my Dad using them on almost everything. They are now popping up in a variety of recipes , and gaining an almost cult status.
Serious Foodie has recreated a Calabrian spicy relish based on these peppers imported from Italy. The relish has typical Southern Italian flavors – a spicy vinegar based sauce with lots of umami from Italian mushrooms. Our relish is delicious in just about everything you can imagine from using it as a pizza topping, spreading on a sandwich, stirred into soups and stews, or using it in a sauce for pasta.
